Dear Friends,
20-July-2008
We are Kenya bound once again! We have a contract to sell
our house! The sale will be finalized on the
19th
of
August and we depart for Kenya three days later on the
22nd.
Kristi made all the boys their very own “Africa Countdown
Calendars”. Every night they get to cross off another day
and mark our progress. It’s rather exciting. Life is crazy
around here! We try and steal as many hours as we can each
day to pack a trunk for the airplane or a box or two for
the storage unit. You should see our house, now that we
don’t have to keep it clean for “showings at the drop of a
hat.” Ha! What freedom there is now that we don’t have “the
call” hanging over our heads.
Wyatt and Aidan both told me last week, that they wanted to
be missionaries. I said, “Well, you are missionaries. You
are missionary kids.” “No dad,” says Aidan. “I want to be a
man missionary.” “Me too,” says Wyatt. Then today, they
were both begging me to baptize them…in the swimming pool.
Kristi and I are so blessed they want to follow Christ and
“serve” Him at such a young age. We know this is a gift as
there is “no guarantee” that this will happen. Thank you
Lord.
Update on my dad (Scott’s dad): He went in for a bi-lateral
hernia repair last week. The plan was to repair them both
but the first one was so large, that the surgeon made the
decision to just fix the one, and do the other one at a
later date. While this was disappointing for dad, the
surgeon felt this to be a “safer” decision. He has
recovered nicely and looking ahead to the other repair in
the next three weeks.
Update on Karon, Kristi’s mother: She is up and about and
back to her usual activities and antics (grin). All her
tubes are out (she went home with a tube). She has followed
up with both her surgeon and her GI doctor and they are
happy with her progress. The inflammation of her pancreas
and her liver has resolved. God has done a great healing
work in her body!
Communication reminders. Once we get to Kenya, we will be
on dial-up. This means SLOW CONNECTION SPEED and long
download times for sending and receiving e-mails. PLEASE,
only send us personal notes. Please, DO NOT send us photos,
chain letter forwards, or any other forwards for that
matter. It’s nothing personal, but it’s quite costly to
send and receive e-mails in Kenya (about $1.30/min).
On the flip side, if you are receiving these updates, and
you would rather not, please let me know. We will not be
offended. In fact, if your are getting them and wish you
weren’t, but are too polite to say so….well, please let me
know. This will save us $ and make you happy. See how easy
we are? We try and post most of these on our website, so
you can always go to
www.seidelfamily.org and see them at
your leisure.
Thank you for praying for us these past few months.
Especially for the sale of our house and our “sanity”
during this process. The last month in the USA will be
hectic and chaotic, so our communication may drop off.
Again, nothing personal; just busy. We are grateful for
each one of you and all your prayers!
Love in Jesus, who loves you more!
